Abstract

An experimental investigation of simultaneous operation of serially connected magnetostriction transducers is presented. It is shown that mechanical vibration system in the equivalent circuit is represented by a serial oscillatory circuit. On the other hand, excitation winding of the transducer with the compensating capacitance comprise a parallel oscillatory circuit. It is shown that with the purpose of effective ultrasonic cleaning it is necessary to tune the frequency of the driving generator, and the parallel oscillatory circuit with the resonant frequency of the magnetostrictic transducer. Since the resonant frequencies of mechanical vibrations of separate serially connected magnetostrictic transducers are slightly different it is proposed to use the frequency modulated signal of the driving generator. It enables to distribute the amplitude of the exiting signal between the magnetostrictic transducers evenly. As a result of that, the amplitude of vibrations of separate magnetostrictors becomes uniform and the quality of ultrasonic cleaning is improved.
