Flow velocity measurement by the pulse acoustic signals

Abstract

It is proposed for flow velocity measurement to use the pulse acoustical signals and to sound the flow simultaneously or one after another in opposite directions. The algorithms for flow velocity and sound velocity measurement in which the parasitic delay of acoustical or electrical signals in the intermediate layers of transducers, walls of the pipeline and electrical circuits of the generator and receiver are evaluated. The block diagram of the measuring system and electroacoustical transducers for the practical implementation of these algorithms are described. The results of the experimental investigation of the system are presented.
