Abstract

The acoustic method for investigation of structure of porous and foam materials is described. The porosity of materials is determined by measurement of amount of a liquid absorbed by the material during a fixed time interval. This amount is evaluated by means of precise measurement of changes of a liquid level in the vessel by the pulse echoultrasonic method. The absorption of the liquid into porous bodies was investigated by the method is described. The data of changes of speed of absorption liquid in porous materials is presented. The foam of materials was estimated by measurement of the changes of amplitude of the Lamb waves in the wall of the vessels. This method for evaluation of porosity and foam by the measurements of speed of absorption may be useful in development of new production technologies of various porous and foam materials.
