The dynamics of a mechanical system excited parametrically by a travelling wave

Abstract

The dynamics of the system excited by a harmonic travelling wave is analysed. The systems of this types differ from the system excited purely harmonically by their dynamics. In the systems analysed wide regions with the regimes of chaotic type exist. Vibrational and rotational motions are analysed. The conditions of existence and stability of deterministic regimes of this type and their specific qualities are determined. The analysis is performed numerically and by approximate analytical methods.
